Symmetry In Motion

In this project we created symmetrical kaleidoscopes using the program geogebra. In our kaleidoscopes we had to create multiple objects that were reflected across lines that acted as mirrors. While making our kaleidoscopes we had to create a two mirror or a three mirror kaleidoscopes. A two mirror is when you only have two mirrors that reflect the objects, allowing only for a few reflections. A three mirror is when there are three mirrors that reflect the objects and show an infinite amount of reflections.

In my kaleidoscope I have four objects rotating and translating on a three mirror rotating kaleidoscope. The large circle rotates in a circular motion, the pizza slice slowly translates around the triangle, the oval and packman both rotate and translate simultaneously.

My design shows symmetry by reflecting each object across the mirrors. Each of the objects are reflected at the exact same time and move simultaneously, showing symmetry across the mirrors.

I felt that this project went really well over all. I was able to grasp geogebra very quickly as well as help others with it and i was able to create a three mirror rotating kaleidoscope with simultaneous translation and rotation. A challenge that I had was that when i screen recorded my animation it was very slow and choppy. But i figured ways around this and was able to make it work.
