Mathematical Model Of Me
The mathematical model of me was a project where we learned about plotting points based on an image to make a graph. In the project we chose an image represented us. Some people chose pictures of her face, pets, logos, or anything that was close to them. Then we plotted the image onto a graph, and made line segments out of it. This made up the basis of our picture. Then we moved on to putting it into the computer and graphing it from there. After we had done that we created an art piece of our graphed image.
The steps that I took to creating my image were based off of the benchmarks. We 1st started out by selecting our image. I originally made it too very complex images that contained mathematical equations, physics formulas, of 3-D animation software logo, money, of and a picture space. However these were way too complicated to actually graph so I selected a picture of my face that was actually my 8th grade school photo. After I had selected my photo I moved on to transferring it on to paper. I took graph paper and stapled my original image to it, held it up to the window, and traced it onto the graph paper. Instead of tracing the image I placed dots, coordinate points, where my lines would be. After I placed the coordinate points I traced around them making line segments. Then I moved on to the computer. We used open office or Excel to input each quarter and endpoint so that we can later graphic using the computer. We had to input each individual point to the chart. After I completed that I created my graph. Originally my graph turned out very odd, but it wasn’t until the next day that I found out we’re supposed to save our 1st trial and I had fixed it already. After I’d fixed it I moved on to creating the art piece. I projected my image onto a piece of foam board, and colored it in.
My image connects to me because it is a picture of my face, and I chose it because it was easier than my original one but it was still a difficult image. My original images both related to me because they incorporated things that I’m interested such as quantum mechanics, mathematics, 3-D animation, and money.
In mathematical model is a model of something, whether being an art piece, sculpture, or anything else that relates to a property or something in math. In this case were relating our final art piece to graphic, or vice versa graphing to art.
Coordinate points, Plotting, Coordinate axes, Scale, and Line Segments all relate to the mathematical model of me because we are working with graphing. Coordinate points and plotting were used in the beginning when we were graphing out our image onto the graph paper. Coordinate axes relate to the project because we use them to differ x from y and positive from negative. Scale we use to either scale up or scale down our final image for art piece if that’s what we decided to do. And line segments we used to connect all of our dots together to create an actual image.
Throughout this project I have used Self-Advocacy and Integrity. Self-Advocacy and Integrity go together in some ways that relate to the way I have used them in this project. I have used them because I am all ways prepared with all of my work and getting all the benchmarks in on time completed, I used my time wisely and never procrastinated because I knew and respected that freedom is a responsibility. As well as I was always Professional and accountable for my work and well I was working.
Over the period of the project I revisited many topics about graphing such as Coordinate points, Plotting, and Scale. But I also learned about how to use open office and the graph tool because I had never used them before.
